England v Scotland Youth International

The 2004 event will be hosted by the Scottish Gridiron Association, and held on the 18th December in Stirling at Forthbank Stadium, under the shadow of the William Wallace monument. Kick-off is at 2pm.

This annual game always provides excitement, and is a good advert for Youth Kitted Football in the UK. Overseen by the National Programme, this game aims to provide a controlled environment where the players are the focal point, with an aim to identifying prospects for the GB Youth and Senior teams, and exposing them to a high level of allstar competition. With the quality of the players and coaches involved, no doubt this year will be an excellent showcase for the sport.

Paul Sherratt will head the Team England staff, with a wealth of experienced positional coaches. Rich Barrett, Carl Rugen, Steve Rigby and Geoff O’Driscoll will work with the offense, while Simon Hatcher, Bob Turner and Martin Hilton will work with the defense. Keith Clarkson will be the Team England GM, assisted by Phil Cooling. Coach Sherratt will add further coaches as required.

Team Scotland will be coached by many familiar faces. Head coach Steve McCusker will rely on Scott Couper, Darryn Trainor and Jim Burns as his offensive staff. Steve Collins, James Dougall and Bruce Foster will coach the defense. Coach McCusker plans to bring in other coaches in assistant roles.

All youth kitted and BCAFL players aged 16-19 are encouraged to attend trials and make each team truly representational. Dates to follow. Coaches are also encouraged to attend on an observational basis.
