Last Saturday saw the 2nd GB Lions Open Trial take place at Milton Keynes National Hockey Stadium. This coupled with the previous trial held 4 weeks ago has now seen in excess of 80 players go through their paces for Head Coach Riq Ayub and his team of assistants.
Coach Ayub feelings after the event was that he was extremely pleased with the new generation of players who appeared to be more athletic and coped well with the demanding workout. He felt that it gave everyone a sense of worth because of the way the players – especially the GB vets – worked hard throughout the afternoon. The staff are very optimistic and look forward with working with these players again.
The recent trials are the beginning of an ongoing all year round programme and the organization is busy trying to arrange a two year diary of events with fixtures to be confirmed.
