Coaching Convention - Details Announced

The Coaches Association has released details of the annual Coaching Convention to be held in Loughborough in July.

Coaches from all around the country will be coming to Loughborough for 3 days of top quality speakers. The evening talks and Coach of the Year awards will be held at the Link Hotel in the town.

This year the speakers at the Convention include:

Geoff Collins the defensive coordinator and LB coach from Mississippi state.

Coach Collins has worked at Georgia Tech, Western Carolina, UCF, Florida international and is currently working for the Mississippi state Bulldogs. While at Florida international Coach Collins’ defense led the Sun Belt in total defense, scoring defense, pass efficiency defense and turnover margin this season, which ended with a win over Toledo in the Little Caesars Bowl. The Panthers’ sack totals nearly doubled, and the pass defense improved from 108th nationally to 32nd in 2010. Coach Collins will offer a unique insight on his plans for his new position at Mississippi State.

Ashley Ingram the offensive line coach for Navy Midshipmen.

Previous positions at Rhode Island, and Bucknell enabled Coach Ingram to win a coveted job at Navy. Navy start the 2011 season in Dublin versus Notre Dame. Coaches will get a in depth knowledge of the Mids offense and offensive fundamentals.

Angelo Mirando the wide receivers coach from Mississippi state.

Mirando, who played quarterback at Case-Western Reserve before graduating in 2008, spent the previous three seasons, one at Florida and two at Mississippi State, serving as the on-field offensive graduate assistant. He worked with the quarterbacks in 2009 before helping with the receivers in 2010.

Also returning this year are David Needs Snr and Dom Bonvetti, Both Coach Needs and Coach Bonvetti can offer a unique perspective to BAFCA coaches having coached in the UK during the 2010/11 BUAFL season.

David Needs has spent the last 45 years coaching football at the high school, collegiate, and semi-professional level including Midland High School, West Chester, Mount Pleasant High, Wesley College, West Chester State University, Caravel Academy, Carson-Newman College.
 

Dom Bonvetti has coached at both the High School and College level for American football and baseball. His experience includes Red Lion Academy High School, West Chester State University and Caravel Academy.

The Convention will also include the Association AGM; British coaches speaking on a range of subjects; buzz sessions (short informal discussions); the BAFCA DVD library; equipment traders; a cafe area; on field clinics (weather permitting), and much more.

The convention is free of charge for all BAFCA members.

There is no special deal on accommodation at the Link Hotel. It is however, reasonably priced and there are alternative hotels which can be found in Loughborough.
