Stags v Stallions for end of season slam
Mar 20, 2023 - 12:30:38 AM

The British Universities American Football League season reaches its climax at Doncaster's Keepmoat Athletics Stadium this weekend.

The National Championship game between the Southampton Stags and Staffordshire Stallions promises top excitement because both teams have unbeaten records to preserve.

It is expected to be a memorable spectacle as some of the finest players in student American football in Great Britain will be on view.

The Stags need to beware of Staffordshire’s Edem Goka, who has set the Northern Conference alight in his first season as the Stallions’ touchdown king.

And Southampton quarterback Michal Katnik is also a threat, with his record of excellent passing.

Andy Fuller, Chief Executive of the British Universities American Football League, said: "The BUAFL is looking forward to an exciting championship game between two teams who showcase some of the best attacking football in the country.

"The Keepmoat Athletics Stadium provides us with one of the best surfaces in the country for American football and should provide a fantastic venue for our Championship games.

"I would like to thank all the staff at the Keepmoat Stadium for ensuring a smooth build-up to the game and enabling us to deliver a fitting season climax."

Andy Clarke, assistant general manager at the Keepmoat Stadium, said: “It is a fantastic event and we’re hoping for a big turn out from the people of Doncaster. It shows the versatility of our venue to stage sports from across the board.”
