Davie Parsons appointed to BAFA Board

Davie Parsons


BAFRA has announced that Davie Parsons has accepted the nomination to be the second BAFRA appointee on the BAFA Board. Davie joins BAFRA President, Jim Briggs, in this capacity. The decision follows the recently announced restructure of BAFA where each of the current member associations has the opportunity to appoint a second director.

From an officiating perspective, Davie took up the stripes way back in November 1985 and has been an active member of BAFRA both on an off the field ever since. He has worked games at most levels and is currently on the EFAF and IFAF list of officials. He has been selected to officiate at the inaugural IFAF Junior World Championships taking place in Canton, Ohio later this month.

Since the early 90’s he has been dedicated to training Scottish officials and has been very successful as BAFRA’s Director of Training since 2004. During this time, he has revitalised the association's training and development activities and has been instrumental in turning its annual convention into an extremely successful and well-attended event.

BAFRA President, Jim Briggs, said, "Davie has excellent organisational and management skills coupled with a sound understanding of the structure and workings of football in the UK. I have no doubt he will bring added value to the BAFA Board and will compliment an already experienced structure".

On accepting his nomination, Davie said, "I look forward to working with the BAFA Board in achieving its aims and objectives. Football has given me so much over the years and has been an extremely rewarding experience. I feel very privileged to be given this opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of such a great sport".
