BYAFAs 2007 Youth Kitted season received a massive lift before a single tackle has been made or a ball thrown with the announcement that BYAFA Bowl IXX will be part of the BAFL’s BritBowl XXI weekend this September.
The game is the culmination of months of discussion and co-operation between BYAFA and the BAFL with both organisations committed to extending the scope and profile of the youth game.
Last year Glasgow Tigers and Bristol Aztecs featured in an exhibition game and the way both sides presented and conducted themselves had a great deal of bearing on the outcome of the BAFL offering a slot to the Youth finals.
Tigers’ Head Coach, and BYAFA Youth Kitted Representative Alan Wilson said, "It was a tremendous experience for the players and coaches alike. Tetley Stadium was a great venue to have but Don Valley with its facilities, pitch and organisation brought the game to a different level. A final at DVS will be a dream come true. Both the Tigers, and I am sure the Aztecs too, are looking forward to competing in 2007 and hopefully returning to be part of BYAFA’s history. This is a mark of the close relationship and working partnership between both BAFL and BYAFA which can only help to improve our part of the game".
BYAFA will now take the opportunity to upgrade their Junior Kitted finals and look at more prestigious venues as that arm of football continues to develop at a pace. Various venues across the north of England are currently under consideration and a decision will be made in the next few weeks.
