BritBowl XXII will take place at the eighteen-month old Keepmoat Stadium, Doncaster on September 20/21.
The
15,000 seat fully enclosed stadium is used by the Coca Cola
Championship, Doncaster Rovers, the Doncaster Rugby League team and the
Doncaster Belles women's soccer team. Our very own South Yorkshire
Mustangs are based on the second pitch at the facility.
For
BritBowl we have secured the main stadium facility, which offers a
full-length football field, adequate changing facilities for all teams,
use of the second pitch for pre game warm-ups. Fans attending the games
will be much closer to the action with fully covered seating together
with food and drink outlets. The BAFL Shop will also be available
throughout the weekend.
Situated very close to the M18 and the A1(M) Doncaster has excellent road and public transport links.
"We are very grateful to Shane Chalmers, Building and Operations
Director at the Keepmoat and his staff for their help and cooperation
in enabling the BritBowl festivities to continue as planned following
the situation we found ourselves in." said Glen Schild, League
Chairman. "The facilities available to us at the stadium are excellent
and I am sure we can deliver a memorable event for all concerned."
Shane
Chalmers said "We are delighted to welcome the BAFL to the Keepmoat, we
look forward to hosting the teams and American football fans and
showcasing the facilities we have to offer at the stadium."
The
event will start at 3:00pm on Saturday, 20th September with the BAFL
Youth Championship game – followed by the BAFL 1 Championship game at
7:00pm. Sunday will commence with the BAFL 2 Championship game at noon
and end with the National Championship – BritBowl XXII – at 4:00pm.
Mark Blyth, BAFL Operations Director said "Obviously I'm very proud
that my hometown will be hosting BritBowl XXII at the superb Keepmoat
Stadium. I've been here when Rovers played Leeds in front of 15000 fans
and also when the Rugby League team played in front of about 1000. Both
times the supporters generated a great atmosphere and I'm
sure our crowd will do the same."
"After
eight great years at Don Valley Stadium, we now face the start of a new
relationship with new hosts", he added. "Hopefully we can build just as
good a partnership as we did in Sheffield."
Tickets will go on sale in August and further information will be made available shortly.
