Jim Messenger
and Jon Wyse
recently attended the two-day UK Coaching Summit in Cardiff on behalf
of BAFA.
The UK Coaching Summit is the annual event run by sportscoach
UK highlighting the development and future direction of the UK
Coaching Framework; the national strategy for coach and coaching
development. The Summit was attended by representatives from over 50
sports as well as representatives from the four Home Country Sports Councils, County Sports
Partnerships, further and higher education institutes and many other
agencies involved in coach development.
During the Summit, Jim and Jon had the opportunity to attend
several work groups on coaching development and contribute to the
continued development of the UK Coaching Framework.
BAFCA President Jim Messenger
said; "This is the fourth year I have attended the Summit. The
opportunity it presents, not only to gather new information, but to fly
the flag for British American football and to build relationships with
other sports and sports agencies is outstanding."
BAFCA Director of Coach Education, Jon Wyse
,
said of the Summit: 'This was a valuable opportunity to top-up our
knowledge on the progression of coach education and the UK Coaching
Certificate standard. Whilst we are not yet able to achieve the full endorsement for this we are continuing to work towards the criteria by
aligning with the National Occupational Standards for coaching
practice. The new approach will be evident in the new Level 2 coach
qualification due to be launched in the very near future."
