Chester and Colchester awarded JPD camps.

Chester Romans and Colchester Gladiators have been awarded NFL Junior Player Development coaching clinics this summer. The clinics are open for boys and girls between the ages of 14 and 18, and are aimed specifically at those with no previous experience of the game.
Mark Staker spokesman for Chester said, “It is a great honour to be awarded this JPD, and it highlights the efforts of the Romans who have looked to develop the sport. We have been building the Romans Youth Academy over the last 24 months, and this season is looking to be the most successful to date, so to be awarded the JPD really is a great boost to all the effort that has been put in” He continued, “The first day of the JPD will be set aside for fitting of equipment, with the remainder of the week developing into a full football camp, with all players trying out all playing positions, under the expert tuition of experienced and qualified coaching staff.
Colchester Gladiators’ Chairman, Dave Hogarth, was understandably thrilled on hearing the news and stated, ”Our selection by BAFA and the NFL to host a JPD is a fantastic vote of confidence for the whole Gladiator organisation. The event will undoubtedly bring benefits to all those involved in American football and the young people of Colchester. Gladiators’ coaches will take their chance to work alongside professional coaches and our already popular youth program will see an influx of enthusiastic and recently inspired teammates. The JPD will also, in conjunction with other equally ambitious plans, assist in local promotion of the sport and raise the national profile of the Gladiators. We are all very excited by this news”.
The first of the five-day coaching clinics is being held by the Chester Romans starting on July 30th and running to August 3rd, the Colchester Gladiators starts on August 6th.
