The British American Football Association is delighted to announce that Dr Elesa Argent, Head of Research with the British Universities American Football League, has been elected to the Executive Board of the International Federation for American Football (IFAF).

Dr. Argent, who recently returned from the 2010 Winter Olympics as a delegate of the Higher Education Academy's Olympic Special Interest Group, expressed her delight at the news:

I am both pleased and honoured to have been elected to serve the members of the International Federation, particularly at a time when American football is increasing its global reach so significantly, and at a time when the women's game forms such a focus for development. I also look forward to contributing as fully as I can to the attainment of Olympic recognition for the sport.

Delegates representing countries from four continents met at the Novotel Darling Harbour Hotel in Sydney to discuss the worldwide governance of the sport of American football.

Following the official Congress business, delegates held discussions focusing on the IFAF Education Development Program, organizational development, IOC Recognition and female participation and the forthcoming Women's World Championships in Sweden.

In addition a group of senior IFAF members met with officials from Events New South Wales to consider the opportunity for future initiatives and IFAF competitions to be held in Sydney.
